Can you recommend any sex ed books for 9 year old girl?

I've always tried to be very open and honest with my 3 children about where babies come from etc but, whereas my boys are happy to ask me anything, my quite shy 9 year old daughter gets very embarrassed whenever the subject comes up.
She has recently asked me a few questions regarding how her body will change as she grows up, but visibly cringed when I told her so I've suggested I'll find her a book that she can read by herself and then we can talk about it more if she wants to. I had a great book when I was little about how your body works, and this covered sex and puberty. Just wondered if anyone could recommend a book like this now that they had bought for their children?
Thanks very much.

I bought a book for my DD, nearly 11. I think it's called "what's happening to me" by Osborne books. We have both found it really good, not too graphic but good information on body changes coming up to puberty etc Its helped her to understand what is happening and is going to happen.

For sale on Amazon, pink for girls, blue one for boys! Hope the following link works as never done this before on an iPad!

I'll second that. I bought the boys version a couple of years ago for the DSs and recently bought the pink one for DD (almost 8) because she's started developing breast buds and gets a bit whiffy after exercise. She's read it and we've talked about it and I think it's pretty good without being too clinical and scary.

I also have a 9yo and can also recommend the pink Usbourne book.

Tonksforthememories · 31/10/2011 21:51

I had the Usbourne book when i was a pre-teen, and i think it answered almost all of my questions! I'll be getting my DD1 a copy soon.

Tonksforthememories · 31/10/2011 21:54

Sorry, mine was the Facts of life one, also by Usbourne!

I would recommend Girls Only! All About Periods and Growing-up Stuff and Little Book of Growing Up by Victoria Parker.

Brilliant, thank you so much for your recommendations.

Mummy Laid an Egg, very funny, clear but not stuffy or graphic. My 8 year old has read it.

We have this one - also very very good. I just leave it on the bookshelf upstairs for the kids to browse when they want to.

My DD had this one which I thought was very good.
