Green poo's day after being advised to give hungry baby formula at last feed. What could this mean??

Hello,
My son is 14wks old and I was advised by the health visitor to give him hungry baby formula at the last feed to help him sleep longer at night. I did on the last feed which was 7oz and 2oz in the early hours. He's had two really dark green poo's today do you think this is connected? He has had a cold which has cleared up and we gave him calpol to ease the symptoms.

I would think so as different formulas produce different coloured poo!

As long as it's not overly watery or frothy don't worry. If he's well in himself and happy to feed then it's just to do with the change of diet.

My breastfed daughter did revolting green poos for about 10 days. I mentioned it to the health advisor and she didn't seem too concerned. It came to an end without me doing/changing anything.

I realise this doesn't answer your question, but just letting you know that I think it is pretty normal.

different formula definitely produces different colour food

you should have seen the colour that omneo comfort produced out of DD2!!!

in theory green poo means that they are not digesting it fast enough but if ds seems content and is gaining weight then I wouldn't worry

Iron in formula can cause green poo too. My DS would have this when he first went onto it.

Is he formula fed or breastfed?

airhostess · 29/10/2011 20:26

He is formula fed. Since the last post I took him to the doctor as he was sick so much after feeds I wanted him checked out. The doc was happy that apart from the green poo and increased sickness that he was hydrated and happy. He thought it was still the cold virus in his system causing the green poo and sickness. The following day his poo was back to his normal colour and his sickness has passed. I felt reassured and thank you for your posts.
