Should fathers shave their beards for their baby?

Mil insists that beards are unhygienic and too rough on a baby's skin.

I would think it's unhygienic if you've got a beard like Mr. Twit's, but surely if you're personal hygiene is ok, the beard would be ok? And a grown beard always feels softer to me than stubbly skin.

Does Mil have some basis for her anti-beard stance or am I right to stand up for my beardy man?

Chin Pie is when the dad rubs his chin on his child's face / tummy.

If he shaves and has a bit of stubble it's really prickly and hurts. But if he has a beard it's tickly and funny.

My dad used to give me chin pie too stranded Grin

And now DD won't go to sleep until DH has given her chin pie. If he forgots you can hear her forlornly shouting from her bed "Daddddddeee....Chin Pie...I want chin pie...you forgot my chin pie"
