The men on here may be able to help more but mums who've had a similar problem, your input is gratefully received as well. My DNephew keeps peeing in the bath and it's driving his mother mad. He claims that his wee just sometimes sprays to the side and he can't help it.

Their bathroom is fairly small and the toilet is beside the bath - perhaps a foot away, if that.

My nephews claim is that when he's peeing it suddenly does this sideways squirt (foreskin related perhaps? Like putting your thumb over a hose pipe?). He says when his pee suddenly squirts in another direction he doesn't notice unless he's watching it and so it keeps making a puddle in the bath (and we suspect on the other side in front of the sink but they have dark flooring so it's less noticeable once dried).

He then leaves it there because he's 8 and doesn't think to clean it up and my sister keeps coming across it and gets angry with him but we don't know if it's true or if he's lying to cover up deliberately peeing in the bath.

Does anyone know if this side-squirt thing actually happens sometimes? If he can't help it we need to know what to do to stop it happening. If not and it's more likely he's doing it on purpose he needs to be dealt with differently... There are no men around that we can ask and we don't know enough about the male anatomy to know if it could be true or not. Please help!

Haven't noticed that happening with DS (7.5).

" he doesn't notice unless he's watching it"

I think your answer is there. Unless he has a medical condition (hypospadias?) where the urethral opening is in the wrong place, there is no reason for this except inattention leading to inaccuracy. He needs to learn to pay all the y through, and all the time.

Two things to try - something in the loo to aim at (non-flushable ping pong ball? Cheerios?) - and the natural consequences of spraying (he has to help clean it up).

Maybe she needs to watch him pee to see if it's a medical condition or not
If his fOreskin is too tight it might be ballooning

Son1 (10) is a bit haphazard and the first bit goes everywhere then is okay

Cant imagine you could stand and pee and not notice where it was going for the duration of the pee

boys usually like to observe!
