Peekaboo barn on iPad. Only app ds really plays with, and now he's nearly 2yo he's naming the animals too :)

My goodness, how did we cope before? Books. Actual physical toys. Bringing up children interested in the world around them - look a train, a car, a red lorry etc.

I have been witnessing the result of too many screens with our teenaged guest this week. His parents have paid a fortune for him to visit from overseas - first plane trip, first ferry tomorrow, never been to the UK (hell, they haven't the money to come themselves) and he listens politely as we point something out, then returns to his screen. He even whipped it out after a walk to the beach today, sitting on a rock, yards from the water. He lives in a landlocked part of Europe and was more interested in his screen app than in seeing one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the world.

Please, use something else. You will live to regret distracting them with screens.
