Hello,
Its my daughters Holy Communion on saturday evening and we have invited the family ( about 25 people ) over after the church service.

As its saturday evening they will be hungry so i feel obliged to offer a buffet rather then just tea and a slice of communion cake. Plus DD wants to turn it into a bit of a party so we are hanging decs and having music etc.
My problem is I am so rubbish at this sort of thing and get so nervous. What food can I serve ?

Can anyone give me a decent buffet list that I can give my guests ? I dont know what to offer and my stomach is turning at the thought of it. Sad

I looked for your thread on recipes and food but couldn't find it. So here goes...

Start with a selection of nice breads, brown, crusty, seeded...
Green salad, tomato salad, rice salad
Selection of cold meats - you could roast a chicken or cook a ham in advance. Otherwise, get some meats from the deli counter.
Dips and tortilla chips and raw veg
Quiche, sausage rolls.
Selection of cheese and crackers
Trifle or tiramisu, cake, fruit salad...

once you get going this list will increase/decrease depending on tastes.

Lay out empty serving dishes on your table and then write on bits of paper what you could put in each dish.
You'll be surprised how quickly the table fills and you may get inspiration as you go along.
Will also help with your shopping list and planning.
