Is it just me who's child turns into Satan the moment they get tired!?

DD1 had always been a nightmare when tired, even as a tiny baby. Now at 2.7 shes even worse.
By Noon shes a complete little madam and def NEEDs about 2 hours after lunch if im to have a decent afternoon.

Generally this sleep is fine and quite welcome but can also be so restricting for afternoons out and meeting up with people.
I try to get back home for 12 so days out are few and far between and with her not waking till almost 3 , theres not much of the afternoon left.

Most of her friends have outgrown thier sleeps and meet up in the afternoons which we have to miss.

Today was a prime example: Due to meet up with some new mummy friends with babies the same age as DD2 (10mths) . They decided to meet at 1pm. DD1 can sometimes last till 3ish so thought we'd meet them.
Started well, chatting a making new baby friends untill DD1 gets progressively worse, being silly, demanding and rude.
In the end decided to cut it short as knew she was getting to silly. Leaving was a complete nightmare/meltdown.. cue me pushing pram with one had and holding her under my arm in the other , kicking and screaming trying to claw at my face!

Very much doubt we will be invited to meet up with them again. Which is also a huge shame for DD2 as she doesnt have many friends her own age.

Anyone else have a similar devil child? Or is it just me!?

Any tips/advice, apart from only go out for the 3 hours in the morning!

any chance she will sleep in buggy or have you just got a single for dd2? if that's the case maybe sometimes sling for dd2 and put her in the buggy if she would fall asleep in it might be able to just put her in, walk round block and then go back with her sleeping, or is she a strictly only in bed napping kind of person?
i have a ds a couple of months older and he has mainly outgrown naps now but i do see sometimes he is getting tired for whatever reason, over exerted himself, woke up way too early, up alot at night etc and he will be too tired and behaviour rapidly detiorates - i think that is quite common, definitely not only your dd behaving badly when tired
i'm sure your friends would have understood and will still meet up again? a bit of an overreaction from them if not i think!

My ds1 is 3.6 and ds2 is 2.1. Both sleep 2 hours and I wake them at 3.30 latest ( they both sleep at least 11 hours at night so do need the nap). Both get very irritable and whiney without a nap and cannot go without! I know your afternoon problem well!

We try to have playmates out in the morning and playmates in the afternoon at home, or have kids tea at the playdate out so that they have a bit more time but it is quite restrictive!
At least I know that well rested my boys are the best behaved there!
