Did your parents keep your baby teeth and what has been done with them? Do you keep your children's baby teeth?

DC3 lost his first tooth the other day and I put it in an envelope but I am wondering now why I am keeping all their teeth.

hehe yes, i have all my baby teeth.
dp thinks it's rather gruesome

WalterFlipsticks · 05/04/2011 14:19

I had 8 teeth out at the dentist once, (teeth didn't fall out as a child, horrible grim goofy teeth and years of brace wearing! :( )
I remember my Mum having them in an envelope for ages, but I think 20 years later, I would be a bit freaked out if she still had them... wouldn't they have rotted/disintegrated, what happens to teeth? who knows!?

BuggyBabe · 05/04/2011 14:20

My parents kept mine, they are in Mums jewellery box. Its a bit odd, isn't it?

We've not got there yet so don't know what we'll do when DD1 loses a tooth.

yes! My mum kept them all, but now has lost some of her sentimentality & has given them to me. I don't want them!

FABsBackAndIsWell · 05/04/2011 14:26

I have a lock of hair from their first hair cuts too.

No. And no. And euuuw.

nubbins · 05/04/2011 15:02

I thought I had kept all of dd1's, but seem to have misplaced a couple, because she has more adult teeth in her mouth than baby ones in my special pot. I have no idea why I keep them or what I will do with them. My mum didn't keep mine. perhaps they will come in handy for a homework project or something!

thisisyesterday · 05/04/2011 16:08

nubbins...you have more adult teeth than baby teeth, that might be why?

think you have 20 baby teeth and 28 adult teeth (or 32 if your wisdoms come through)

thisisyesterday · 05/04/2011 16:10

and walter... they do nothing! mine look just like they did the day they fell out my mouth.

i also have the umbilical clips from all 3 children, which is actually slightly manky

MadameSin · 05/04/2011 17:37

Yes and yes .... I have all mine and am keeping both my ds's. Don't know why, just couldn't bring myself to throw them away once the tooth fairy had been. My eldest is almost 15 and recently I showed them to him ... YUK! was his reaction (why did I bother?) Grin

MadameSin · 05/04/2011 17:38

thisis.. oooh, yes and their umbilical clips ... Hmm

nubbins · 05/04/2011 19:32

thisis - well she's only 9 and has had about 8 teeth out. I only have about 5 or 6 in the pot!

I don't have their umbilical clips though. thats a bit too icky for me.

thisisyesterday · 05/04/2011 21:23

ahhh ok... i guess the tooth fairy kept a couple Grin

piratecat · 05/04/2011 21:27

mum may have kept one, i think i remember seeing one in the jewellery box yrs back.

i have kept dd's, the first one you think awww, and the same for the 2nd. After the 5th i wondered, why am i doing this like you.

Now i havent the heart to throw them all out. I guess i will keep them till dd no longer believes in tooth fairy, show her them and then chuck them.

it's all a bit weird really!

Pounamu · 05/04/2011 21:34

Haven't got to that stage with my DD yet but I have kept her umbilical clip, not sure why I kept it as it's a bit icky. I am really sad that I have lost her hospital tag Sad though so maybe that is why I've kept the umbilical clip

Hassled · 05/04/2011 21:37

I have a drawer full of teeth. Some of them clearly marked ("DS1, second from the back, right hand side, Sept 1997"), most not. And 4 DCs, so that's a lot of teeth. It's madness.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 06/04/2011 09:02

I only recently threw DDs away. It was macabre to keep them, but I had planned to have a pair of earrings made.
DHs face was like this when I told him [vom] and Hmm
