How old does this child sound?

Copies many things I say as best he can, Says lots of 2 word phrases, with omissions in (), like

More milk!
Op(en) (pl)ease!
Wait (for) Dada
High up

Much more limited range of 3 word phrases, like
Come Here, Mum
Wrong way Truck (you put the truck away the wrong way)

Can say only a few 2-syllable words as 2 syllable words.

Is only just starting to sort of know colours, struggles to understand words like Under, happy, feel, next to.

I was going to suggest that with older siblings the younger child may be a bit slower to achieve milestones as the older ones sometimes communicate, and meet their needs (passing things etc) without the proper language being used. It's easy for them, whereas with your first they don't have that so talk earlier.
But this isn't my profession and every child is different!

One of my grandsons ( son's child) was able to have a conversation at 2 yrs old.He knew his colours and could name football teams from their badges. He had always spent most of his time with adults - and a mother who talked to him constantly.
Another grandson ( daughter's child) is nearly 5 and has minimal vocabulary.

They are all different !

I guess I want to know so that I can tell if DS3 is really making progress, in 6-12 or more months.

DS2 (now 6.5yo) was signed off of SALT about 9 months ago but still has speech & communication problems. I think of DS2 as about 18 months behind where he should be. Increasingly I'm wondering if DS2's biggest problem is lack of listening skills, although his speech problems were never phrased as such by a professional.

The average of the replies here is 2y2.5m. If I repeat this thread in 12months time I'd like DS3 to be rated as sounding older than 3y3m.
