Boys Wearing Vests, am i just old fashioned?

As its really cold, i send my 7 year old boy to school with a vest under his school shirt. My little man says to me that only one other boy in his class wears a vest which i find totally surprising. Its freezing and most of the kids just wonder around with a thin shirt and jumper.

Is it just me that sends thier son to school with a vest on or am i just totally old fashioned??

My boys wear vests in cold weather (4 and 6)

DS (5) has never worn a vest, but then that's probably because i've never bought him one Grin I don't think he would wear one though if I went and bought him some now.

Also, he thinks all sleeveless t-shirts (ie, vest style) are called 'vestigates'and i've never had the heart to correct him because it's such a cute word Grin

Greeninkmama: Ahhh thats a shame lol, nothing wrong with them, very comfy but not the most attractive things to wear :-)

Mummypumpkin: Why do boys do that? Wear long sleeve vest with short sleeve shirts? I thought it would look weird to have them with a short sleeve top?

Clowance : Oh how cute is that vestigates lol Don't teach him the word investigates or he might think that the vests go inside him :-)

rsq - He said that they made him sweat so much his trousers were getting wet. not a good look for a secondary-school kid! We advised him to whip them off as soon as he got into school, and stuff them in his locker.

I like vests so have really enjoyed watching Big Fat Gypsy Wedding where the men just seem to wear only vests.

sigh

LOL I think it is brilliant. I am mesmorised by the lifestle. I can't believe the young girls, the way they dress and dance and the way the boys treat women.

He he, well the men and boys certainly know the many sytles of vests, i wonder where they buy them, Topman :-)

what coldtits wrote is not true. My hubby has always worn vests and says that in the seventies and eighties almost all boys wore them. Our two boys, ten and eight wear them (sleeveless style) and even in summer they have the airtex mesh ones that let the air through. Even on shot day, say when you are at the beach, the temperature can drop sharply around tea time so it affords extra warmth. Wearing just a flimsy tee shirt is no good at all. I can't see why vests would look unfashionable. After all, it's an item of clothing that is not visible most of the time.
