Do you allow yourself to be called by your first name by children? This seems to now be the norm as far as i can see, but am I alone in finding it rude and disrespectful? I wouldn't have been allowed to do this as a child and i am interested in what others think.

Very good friends, they call me by my first name. DS's school friends, call me DS's mum.

Realised it got bad when the Dad of a family we know really well through nursery called me "DS's mum" and I realised that after 4 years, I had never told him my name. He still had to refer to me as "DS's mum". I found a way of dropping it into the conversation later on in the week, so now they know. But, the shame!

Name by some kids, Auntie by others. I live in a heavily Asian area and I find that they all prefer to be called auntie and tell their kids to call me auntie.
