the 5 yr old is begging me to let dd2 in the bath with her. what do you think. Obviously I will be holding dd2.

Yes - SOOOO much easier. There's 3yrs and 3 months between my 2 boys. and they've shared a bath since DS2 was big enough to go in the bath seat.

They're now 21 months and 5yrs and sit at opposite ends of the bath and throw bubbles at each other now

I can't believe you don't already TBH - it saves on bath water, time, and is much more fun for everyone concerned. But, yes, keep a good grip on the little one.

If you're worried why not get one of those bath top baths for baby and then the five year old can get in the big bath at the same time, this is what my SIL did and im thinking of doing the same when this one is born.

I bath DS (5) and DD (6 months) together. DS goes in first, DD for a few minutes, then i take her out and DS comes out a bit later. They also take showers together, although this gets me v wet as i have to keep the cubicle door open to hold onto DD. She sits in the shower tray and just gets splashed by DS.

My DS was 2 rs 9 months and bathed with my newborn, it was so much easier/quicker than doing staggered bath times. I used one of those moulded plastic bath support things from John Lewis so DS could have a decent depth bath

my 3 year old goes in with my 7 month old most of the time...
he is a tinker but is fine in the bath

my three year old bathed with my 5 months old - although she was really sitting up unaided I put her in one of those baby bjorn bath seats - the ones that swivel all the way round with suckers on the bottom, also included in bath is ds who was nearly 2. \link{http://www.dealclick.co.uk/product/183016/Safety-1st-Swivel-Bath-Seat.php} the seat meant she couldnt fall back and it freed up my hands. I could also turn her in the direction of the activity. It got pretty vigorous in the bath at time but she loved it. It cost me about a £10 from John lewis.

DS 3.3 when DD was born - started bathing them together as soon as DD's cord came off and I no longer had to be careful with it. Had no intention of ever doing otherwise.

So I think the concensus is - go for it....

seat

ghost · 24/09/2005 20:48
