I think children who don't have the fun of believing in Father Christmas miss out

One of my fave parts of the run up to christmas is when FC comes along the road pulled by his locally supplied Land Rover to wave and talk to the kiddies - it is purely magical!!!

I think we should explain to young children the story of Father Xmas, but stress that it is not real, that it is fantasy to enhance the experience of being a young child and makes up for all the other stuff that is apparently 'not fair'.

jampots · 15/09/2005 10:51

ooh yes

my kids are 18 and 22 and I still make them go out

zippitippitoes · 15/09/2005 10:51

I definitely saw his red coat swirl round the door when i was 8 and because we had visitors I was sleeping on a sofa bed in my parents bedroom and they were in bed. I argued this ferociously at school and I was right.

I bet they take the sweets too?

jampots · 15/09/2005 10:52

yes they do - although if they;'ve been naughty which they inevitably are that close to christmas, I confiscate them and eat them myself

wartybosoms · 15/09/2005 10:56

PMSL!!!

zippitippitoes · 15/09/2005 11:02

We had a holly tree in the garden where he used to hang out spotting whether we were being good

He has got a bit lazy with adult deliveries I've noticed I've even had jars of jam and such like in my stocking ill thought out stuff, the sort of thing you get in a Tesco petrol station whereas dp gets a load of good stuff, gross discrimination
