Should be moving to Nice very soon. Just waiting for a date to be agreed. Anyone have any useful tips?

so excited!
we've found a flat to rent and all of a sudden it looks like we'll be moving mid-November - arrrrghhhh! quite sad to leave Paris though.

Hi, my parents (mother english, dad french) live in Nice and i go down there regularly from UK. I was brought up in France and only moved here 5 years ago but if I can help just let me know. Nice is great weather-wise but even I can't handle the traffic! well done with the driving.

hi theosmummy,
our flat is in Biot - will this be swamped with Brits abroad in August???? I think we'll wait until after the summer to buy a place so we can see what July/August are like.... We're expecting the worst
did you grow up in this area or are you from somewhere else in France?

Biot is supposed to be 'reallyreally' nice - ie not too snobby but still charming with market etc. Very expensive obviously, and relatively touristy but i would imagine very lovely to live in outside July/August. Have never been but my mother keeps talking about it! Was brought up in southern France - Toulouse, Bordeaux, Aix but go back to Nice regularly. BTW best shopping is in Cannes ;-))

I lived in St Medard en Jalles - way back in the eighties though... I've heard Bordeaux is really happening these days. You are so lucky! and the ocean not too far away is a bonus. Are you working there too?

theosmummy, if I'm going to be shopping in Cannes I'd better get back to work PDQ
thanks for the reassurance about Biot. I'm sure it'll be great - will let you know how we're settling in. Move planned for mid-November.
do you ever get the urge to move back to France?

Hi ParisMum, Just wanted to say good luck with the move. Sounds like you've found a lovely place. I'm just packing up to leave Paris too, and it's predictably stressful. Haven't even started on telling France Telecom, EDF et al - dreading that. Hope it goes well and you all enjoy your first warm winter.

ParisMum · 26/10/2005 20:04

thanks beetlejuice
when are you off exactly? have you found somewhere to live in London? will send you over some Mediterranean sunshine
