Watch out for sexual adult content on tv at breakfast time

I was shocked this week when scrolling up through the television channels to discover a channel obviously geared towards adults broadcasting during the morning. The programme showed a scantily dressed woman moving and behaving in an overtly sexually provocative manner. My young children enjoy watching early morning television especially in the holidays and I am really worried that they could see such a channel. Has anyone else seen this? I am going to be forced to keep the remote control as I am mortified they could watch this. I thought such content could not be broadcast until after 9pm to ensure children were protected. It's a freeview channel too.

was it Diana Moran, the "Green Goddess" ? here

annh · 12/10/2010 10:03

What channel was it?

mozette · 12/10/2010 10:05

Can't you change the parental controls? I know you can with Sky

DinARGGHHHrod · 12/10/2010 10:07

Aren't you over reading Fifi and the Flowertots?

annh · 12/10/2010 10:10

Yes, if it's a Freeview channel you can enter a PIN to stop people from viewing it. Anyway, we're still waiting to hear what this was!

annh · 12/10/2010 10:12

Oh yawn, have just realised the OP posted the same post (word-for-word) in August! Taken her a long time to figure out how to set that PIN!

PumpkinBrain · 12/10/2010 10:13

rofl "Aren't you over reading Fifi and the Flowertots?"
genius.

EstyBird · 12/10/2010 16:41

I reposted it because I was new and put it in the wrong place, sorry! I wondered why I got no responses! The channel is on number 98 freeview and called Early Bird. It runs from 5am till 9am. See what you think?

You're after viewers for the channel. Nice try.

ScaryFucker · 12/10/2010 16:45

how transparent Hmm

SolidGoldBrass · 12/10/2010 16:45

Well, you need to keep an eye on what your children are watching. ANy of the news channels could show material which might upset or scare small children if something dreadful has happened (footage of some disaster is a lot more alarming to young children than some woman wriggling in a bikini which they are not going to interpret as 'sexual' anyway).

Earlybird we have a freeview box upstairs in our bedroom, a couple of weeks ago every morning when we turned it on we had the same channel come up. The first morning I gave Dp 'the stare', he said it was nothing to do with him. For the next few mornings the same thing happened.

If yours is a freeview box if you go into your settings menu you can hide these channels, so the don't come up on the viewing channels at all.

Apparently the freeview boxes retune each night if left on, even on standby and set themselves to certain channels, and that is what channel it turns on to when you first switch it on. At the moment ours is some weird BBC rolling news channel, but can be any channel. It's not pleasant when your children have reached over the age of watching Cbeebies, but you telly switches on to it in the mornings and your woken by some annoying Cbebbies wake up song Grin

Thank you, this is a helpful response and much appreciated, I'll take your advice.

But I still don't know what was on the TV programme. Just a woman moving about? No man involved. What WAS she doing that could damage kids for life?
