I need some inspiration for a nice quote for my upcoming birth announcement of a baby girl (please oh please).

What did you have on yours?

or if you want to be cool rather than vomitous, you could quote e.e cummings:-

"No-one, not even the rain, has such small hands"...

How about 'Love set you going like a fat gold watch', by that well-known bringer of joy, Sylvia Plath?

Lady-Baby makes me think of Lady-Boys so that's out.

When I say 'paper announcement' I mean sending a bit of paper in the post, not a nice column in the Daily Telegraph or anything...

don't you like my e.e.cummings?

a boyfriend once quoted it to me (I do have small hands) and I must say I melted...

She has ten little fingers
and ten little toes
She's pink and soft
with a tiny little nose

All wrapped in pink
even the bow on her head
Daisies are painted
all around her bed

Announcing to all
about our new baby girl
Such a precious gem
more precious than a pearl

The train comes in and sounds the horn.
Behold to us a son be born!

We have our boy, hope to hear from you soon!

morningpaper · 10/09/2005 15:48

e.e. cummings make her sound like a preemie.

Tortoiseshell it's nice but it's a bit Brambly Hedge...

Am I too fussy?

Just think, don't do poetry! Always sounds naff! As demonstrated by these two examples. There was a thread about terrible poems somewhere - will try and find it...

tortoiseshell · 10/09/2005 15:51

Oh, can't find it! Seriously, I would just give the details and a nice photo! I don't think I even did birth announcement cards. Or if you really want a quote, one line of prose is definitely nicer than a poem!

Soupsicle · 10/09/2005 15:52

I think I'm going to barf...

morningpaper · 10/09/2005 15:54

Ooh soupsicle those ARE bad...
