Can anyone recommend a car that carries three kids (possible booster, Maxi Cosi and baby seat) plus has lots of room?

another opportunity to recommend the Fiat Doblo!!!

It's becoming a tradition, I mention it and it's politely ignored

bran · 26/08/2005 12:05

lemonice I'd never heard of a Doblo until just now, so I had a quick google for it and it's very, very ugly. It looks like a van with windows. The review that I read says the engine is noisy and underpowered.

There, I haven't ignored you or been polite. Is that better?

We have an old style Scenic and you can get 3 kids across but the seat belt clasps are very low between them and the centre seat belt, although 3 point, is fixed to the roof so quite loose over the shoulder. Some newer ones do address this though. Friend has an XC90 for her 4 kids and getting in and out can be a performance, plus the power steering went within 6 months

citroen picasso, went on sc holiday and got all our stuff inc pushchair plus clothes and buckets and spades for 3 children in the boot!
(pal with "just" 2 kids and a huge renault saloon had to take a roofbox)

Fio2 · 26/08/2005 12:19

i mean omega estate aswell, boot unbelieable,, friend has a picasso, ve good

all these hideous looking van type cxars are practical aswell, like the berlingo, doblo etc

lemonice · 26/08/2005 12:20

bran it always says that about the other engine but the elx diesel is great not underpowered at all and my previous car was a Subaru forester turbo so I have a fast car to compare with (also recommend that but the turbo isn't essential!)

sorrel · 26/08/2005 12:21

this should do it

only joking

Fio2 · 26/08/2005 12:22

sorry lemonice, i hadnt read the whole thread and didnt realise you had one

my h used to have one btw and we used to callit his noddy car very practical though

lemonice · 26/08/2005 12:23

I had a landrover discovery too, didn't like it like driving a tractor and soooooo sloooooooow and the children get travel sick, reliability nil too

bran · 26/08/2005 12:23

I bet the diesel is just as ugly though.

Fio2 · 26/08/2005 12:24

we only had the disco for a year, we tow so need something quite large iykwim but tbh we were quite disappointed even though it towed well and fitted three car seats in the back and two drunk grandparents in the boot

lemonice · 26/08/2005 12:25

Fio I like the fact it's so quirky and people think it's hideous, it just makes it more fun and it is cheap to run, huge inside with comfy seats and strong as an ox and popular with surfers so does have some credibility

matnanplus · 26/08/2005 12:28

Ford Galaxy

Vauxhall Zafira
