He has been crying all day. He has been changed, breastfed, formula fed, winded.

I cannot bear it. I cuddle him he cries, I put him down he cries. Please, any ideas? I have danced around the kitchen, i have left him to cry, i just am at my wit's end.

DH has a really big week at work this week and is already in bed, so he cannot help me.

I remember the hellish growth spurt thing - I would happily have set fire to scowled at the next person to say that, but it's so true.

OP - this bit is true true hell, I remember it well.. argh, horrible. Thing is, you're through the worst of it and it will get better soon, promise

just thinking about what we did again

Have you tried cycling his legs - lay him on his back on the change mat and rotate the legs. If there are any stomach pains that can help. Same with rubbing the tummy - clockwise in big circles.
I realise you didn't ask about wind, but I found these things calmed DS regardless, so might be useful.

Also (and I realise this might be an unpopular theory) DS was much more windy/unsettled when he was on formula and BM at the same time. Any chance you can stick with the BM? Also, are you using SMA? Made my DS fart like a trooper!

(I'll be here all night.. ba doom, tish)

Brilliant advice, Jareth, 14hours. Thank you so much. Not too bad last night, up at 1, 3 and 6. He HAD been sleeping in 4 and a half hour blocks so I was spoiled!

Overstimulation may well be a part of it, as I was using musical mobiles to try and distract him from crying.

Will try leg cycling, also. Interesting also what you say about combined feeding making them windy, Jareth. I am aiming to buildup the BM and ditch the FF. Due (I believe) to a fairly traumatic delivery my milk was delayed.

Oh, and thanks 14hours about the growth spurt timeline.... I had asked the MW on Monday if he could be going thru one, she said it was unlikely, but I feel like I can see him growing before my eyes!

It is amazing how much better things look after a few hours sleep. The swaddling definitely helped.

This is why i love mumsnet.... makes me laugh and ry on a daily basis, and saved my sanity last night.
