I'm trying out Bastide de Garille - Cabardes. A fruity medium french red. Nice

Nothing now.

I think it was Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon. (Don't really know) Was red, anyway.

EldonAve · 14/06/2010 20:29

petit chablis

AppleTreeWick · 14/06/2010 20:31

Ah like an old old friend we return once more to rioja

Gaston · 14/06/2010 20:41

I do like Rioja, infact I have nothing against most reds. Olives are a handy right hand snack. Is the football finished ?

Asking the wrong people, oops, habit x

nope footer still going strong honk honk dear God that noise is annoying...when drinking mid week is it acceptable to start a second bottle? If (in my defence) we opened the first one last night. Or should I just move on to rum? Also just realised is Monday officially mid week yet or can I pretend it's just late Sunday drinking?

SUPportblacksENGLand · 14/06/2010 21:02

I did have a yellow thingy - v expensive that ILs bought us. But as a Pinot / Muscat lover it tasted of pure sugar to me and it looked like first morning wee.

Therefore i have "generously" given it to DH and i am on the Gin .

Gaston · 14/06/2010 21:06

Second bottle acceptable, it is only Monday. Mondays have their own status, neither weekend nor mid week. Here's to Mondays ! Cheers ! x

some red bottle with an elephant on it. DH got it at the shops. usually selected based on my taste/his taste and desire to try something different. Today based on the first thing he got hold of i should think as in a hurry.

tastes nice enough, if not a bit heavy.

unfitmother · 14/06/2010 21:09

A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Half price of course - Cheers!

Gaston · 14/06/2010 21:11

Elephant... rings a bell.... hmmm. In a hurry to get back to the football no doubt. I like football, esp world cup but that crowd noise is not good this time round.

OP posts:
Gaston · 14/06/2010 21:12

Half price, chin chin !

unfitmother - sainsburys? I do like the offers they do on NZ Marlborough sauvignon blanc, they did a fantastic one last week, meant to be for camping, drank it all that night (with help of DH of course ). Can't remember what one it was.

AppleTreeWick · 14/06/2010 21:15

oooh an elephant! I'd buy that (saddo emoticon). Mondays are definitely still the weekend.

portblack you are the very definition of selfless and I applaud you

btw the footer must be ending soon DH has started talking about catching up with Doctor Who.

WowOoo · 14/06/2010 21:15

I too amd drinking Bastide..quite nice.I do like French wine and don't really buy any from further afield. Should try perhaps.

Sukie1971 · 14/06/2010 21:18

Pinot, my fave... yet weirdly from Hungary not Italy.... serves me right for getting it in Aldi. Skint. Obviously.

unfitmother · 14/06/2010 21:19

I only buy expensive wine, at Sainsburys but when it's half price!
Tell disaproving DH that it was a bargain.
I'm such a cheapskate I stock up when it's one I like, I have been known to buy a box.

Gaston · 14/06/2010 21:20

yes they r in extra time, football nearly over. Best way of trying new wines is to source online the half price etc so to pay only a fiver or more for a tenner or more wine, especially if it is new to you. All good supermarks have deals, we know

Oh no, bottle finished. Was a good try though, dry(ish) French red, would be good with most foods or like me this evening, just olives, because I couldn't be arsed to cook!
Of course the kids had their meal at 4:30pm (they can't wait any longer) I think that's why actually, I can't eat at 4:30pm on Mondays ! Chin Chin !
