Pine wardrobe....If it is taken apart for removal will it ruin it ???

Am watching a lovely pine wardrobe on ebay at the mo. The seller says he will dismantle it as it is rather large, but i'm just worried that if we buy it, when we come to put it back together it will be wonky.

It looks of decent quality but still, will taking apart ruin it ??

Its a good point. Things never go back quite the way they seem do they.

We didn't take our bedroom furniture apart when we moved, but it still suffered severly and we have thrown a lot of it out as it had collapsed. It was all decent stuff, just so heavy to lift and so suffered!

What make is it? It really depends on the construction and quality, if it is all screwed and dowelled together it should be fine. If is nailed or glued it will need to be de-constucted very carefully.

If you find it a bit wobbly when you rebuild it you can put a couple of diagonal straps accross back to strengthen it.

We bought a fabulous triple pine wardrobe in our old house from argos. Then we decided to move house......and of course the whole thing had to be dismantled as there was no way we could get it out of the bedroom door, let alone down the stairs and into the new house.

It survived brilliantly - and is still going strong.

We had to dismantle our pine wardrobe when we moved into this house as it wouldn't fit up the stairs. It seems ok.

If it was self-assembly in the first place, and if (big big if!) he still has the instructions then you should be OK, nutty. If not then probably not.
