there seems to be alot of threads on here relating to emigrating to oz of recent.

i'm bloody jealous. i've been trying to convince my dw to pack up and go for years but she's a little nervous (quite rightly really. i understand where she's coming from).

i've got the points, i've got the age, i've got hte balls and i want to goooooo! aaargggh!

oooohhhhhy.. i can't take it anymore. i want to be an oz cowboy! i want to wear the stereotypical checked shirts, i want to wear the nackered 10 yr old flip flops, i want to grow the dodgy feathered mullet, i want to drink cheap watery beer in public places, i want to drive a large petrol gussling utility vehicle with a roo bar and one of those thingies that scare animals away so you don't plow them down, i want to wear chelsea boots to formal occasions.... i want it all!

If it's any consolation I'm only allowed here until January. When my contract expires so does my work permit, so it's back to London for me.

Actually, just as an aside, the funniest thing I've ever heard is when somebody here innocently asked me (and I'm 35) if DP (48) surfs. SURFS!!!! He's a 48 year old vodka swilling ex-matelot from Wigan who smokes. I'm amazed they're even letting him in.

... grrr. well at least i'll be happy in the knowledge that you are being forced back to the rainy island.

chelsea boots - thats what they call them in the UK. i used to have a pair of blundies (i typed blondies there first and it made me laugh). i bought them with my first tomato picking paycheck

DC - Plus if it helps I've also had to leave my techo-zone at home and I'm suffering with a dial up.

SW - I'm a telecomms consultant. YAWN. At the moment I'm very popular because I've done a lot of 3G (all the new phone services like video on demand etc etc), so as the new services roll-out around the world, that's where I go. To be truthful though, I prefer shopping.

..that wasn't me by the way it was just a silly hotlink lol.
