Presents for a 1 year old girl. I'm stuck!

It's my cousins little girls 1st birthday soon and I can't decide what to get her.

I'd seen a thing on This Morning a while ago where they were showing different gift boxes full of gorgeous stuff for newborns and new mums and I wondered if anyone does them for 1st birthdays.

If not I'll make my own up but if I do could you show me or tell me some things that you would appreciate for your LO or that you think would be nice.

do you kow what i really appricated for dd1 1st birthday? it was MIL promise to pay for her 1st proper walking shoes.

Yeah my MIL did the same. It's a nice idea but she's just started walking so I would imagine she'll have some and her birthdays at the beginning of September.

I would get an aquadraw, not cutesy or anything but bloody brilliant. Sit baby on the edge and let her flick the brush and make marks. DD still loves hers and she's 3 now!

Or how about buying a little box and filling it with lots of goodies yourself.. a pretty dress, a bag of buttons, a cuddly teddy, some pretty socks, a rattle/ball (whatever she likes) all mixed in coloured shredded paper for her to find..

I'd get plastic teaset. I know most of them are supposed to be for over-threes, but DD2 adores hers, and the fabulous thing is that you can never go wrong - we have about five teasets and new additions are always welcome.

Ditto Megablocks. In fact the more megablocks one gets, the better.

Glad my dad isnt the only one who has bought jess her first pair or shoes! (2 even!) He bought her the crawling shoes last month, and as he was going away on her birthday, he put some money in her card for her cruising shoes which we have just got back from buying! Dad also said he would get her something when he got back from his hols.
Best thing jess got was her ride on car..... she adores it!

I always try to remember they arent always going to be one. so its fine to buy something they will grow to enjoy? maybe something to add to so you dont need to think too hard next year!!!

You can buy disney princess mega blocks, which are really girly my dd had 2 sets for her 1st birthday. Agree with the tea set my dd plays endlessly with hers & ds still plays at 5!

Is she walking? Elc do a small pushchair for £5, my dd loves putting her baby in it & pushing it, though she must sit in it herself as some point everyday! For £5 it's excellent value!

The ones I'd seen on tele were lovely, admittedly they weren't for 1 yr pressies but surely someone somewhere does them.

Oooh - ditto the pop up tents and tunnels, cause they are easily stored, and are so much fun for crawling babies, walking toddlers and even older kids. Most are "modular" so you can keep adding to them... And good for turning an indoor area into a nice play area when the weather turns yuk... Oh. Like now!

That would be a good idea as they live in a really cute but tiny cottage.

Where can you get them from?

I've seen one on the ELC website for £15 but it seems a bit big.

I just looked at the tunnel, they've changed the size since it was bought for us. Here is pop it in the post game both my children loved this (& still do!) At a year they learn to post, then as they get older there is a game to it. My 5 year old will still it for imaginative play.

This one looks long too but it's good value!
