Can anybody recommend a pampering day in North West or North Wales for a 50th birthday?

Some friends want to buy their friend a pampering session for her 50th birthday - she lives on the Wirral and they don't live close and have no idea where to book so they've asked me (I'm in Manchester). The lady in question would be happy to drive a reasonable distance to somewhere good so it could be anywhere in north of England or Wales basically. I've never been to one so haven't a clue - does anybody know of anywhere suitable? They've not specified a price but one of them's very well-off so don't think it's an issue - would be good to give them a range of options though to be on safe side.

Any suggestions?

hoar cross hall I'm going here this weekend with my 50 something mum. My sister has been several times and raves about it.

Checked multimaps and says its 1.5hrs south of manchester.

Looks lovely - quite a long way from the Wirral (nearly 2 hours) but will suggest it - would be perfect for me though .

Enjoy your weekend twinklytoes.

Any more suggestions?

The orange tree is fab ...

I guess its better for a weekend break but if they want complete peace and rest and relaxation then its really good.

I went last year with my mum, sister and her mil and friends (about 12 in total) and although I didn't think it would be "me" (would miss dh and the dk's, not one for girls weekends etc) I really enjoyed it.#

Found out loads about relaxtion techniques, had treatments (reiki or massage etc) I had a fake tan and its in the middle of no where so you can walk and walk and walk.

The couple who own it provide the "classes" and do the treatments and they also provide all meals home cooked.

You can bring your own booze or they provide it for you and its a real laugh for a group and very relaxing. Access to the spa pool till late at night and its Even good for a couple wanting a break.

Its yorkshire way but imo worth it. hth x
