If I were you I would go to Victoria though and meet her in London, more to do/see than Croydon

From Three Bridges you could catch a train into Victoria, London Bridge or even a Thameslink Train (towards Luton or Bedford) which usually stops at Kings Cross (you may need to check situation atm). It would take at least 45 minutes into London from Three Bridges. tbh Victoria is probably as good a place to meet your friend as any.

victoria is around 50mins by train from three bridges
you can get a normal train.

Normal train directinto Victoria takes about 45 -50 minutes depending on how many stops it makes -some every station, some only 4-ish times.

or you could get your friend to come to gatwick
can do some shopping at the airport!
