Oxford/Cambridge boat race - anyone been and watched?

Is it worth it for a day out? Where is the best place to stand? It will be quite a long tube journey for us so only want to go if it is thought to be good fun.

It is know as the annual student vomit fest round here
pavement pizzas everywhere the day after

I wouldn't personally bother to travel to go to it. We don't normally bother and it is on our doorstep

I watched it last year as we were invited to a party in a riverside house along the course.
