washable wipes - to spray or to soak?

I finally got my washable wipes sorted. Went to ikea in the end and got a couple of packs of their flannels for £3.50 - so plenty of wipes now although they do look very big for a newborn bum!

Anyway I know that some people make up the wipes solution and pour it on the wipes in a tupperware box, but also that you can put it in a spray bottle and apply as needed. Can't decide which is best. Possibly a combination - spray when out, soak when home?

Just wondered what others mums did and which way you'd recommend?

Well I've finally been inspired to start using washable wipes, but as with nappies I've gone for cheap and cheerful - I cut up a couple of 60cm terries I don't use, and I am just using water - I wet them, wring them out and put them in a plastic box in the morning. Seems to work just fine

I just use water. I keep the wipes in the bathroom and just wet those.

When out and about, I either take ones I've already soaked in a tupperware box or take dry ones and use the water available or buy a bottle of water.

Didn't see the point of making up a solution - why make life hard for yourself? DS has never suffered any soreness BTW.

never thought of spraying! might give it a go to see.
I started off making fancy solutions but soon gave up and it's just plain old water for ds's bum - seems fine on it.
Must admit to using disposable wipes when out and about though - altho now I think about it I'm not really sure why as they are just as heavy as carrying a small bottle of water plus a wipe or two - bad habit I spose.
let us know how you get on and maybe I'll be inspired.

why not just put some damp wipes in a zip and seal bag for out and about? That's what I do with disposable ones anyway, can't see why it should be different with washables?

i have just started using washable wipes ( in made up solution in wipes dispenser) and just put a few in a plastic zip lock bag for when we are out and about.
