A plea for Mumsnetters help, for those that use Facebook would you pls consider joing a group set up to work towards removing groups like 'keep down's syndroem sufferers away from society'.

There has been a flurry of vile hate groups on Facebook with titles such as 'Down Syndrome - is there no end to these monster children' and Keep Down syndrome away from society etc. The people posting say vile things such as f*@$ing babies with Down syndrome, killing them, locking them up in cages and so on. Pathetic but also horrid, wrong and damaging.

There has been a group set up that are all working together to constantly report the groups, fake profiles, comments, events, pictures etc. Facebook are being very slow, too slow in reacting to the complaints.

The more people joining this group to work towards asking Facebook to remove hate groups and the posters and the comments etc the better.

Would you consider joining this group and if you can clicking on the link in the box on the left and reporting the latest vile group.

The petition group has so far shut down 7, or 8 of these hate groups. The more members and the more people reporting the more serious Facebook will have to take us and hopefully act faster in removing them.

If just one person sees these sites and believes some of the crap posted up....well... it's damaging to say the least. And people think it's ok to discuss killing, shooting, raping people with DS. These comments have the danger of becoming attitudes that people can take out in to the real world with them.

Yes I know only too well, having been born with one arm and an underdeveloped flipper, I have been suffering too many years of playground abuse, mostly from people who are big enough to know better.

When I first moved to the UK from Ulan Bator, I have been called names like flid, spazzey, forest stump, Jermy beetal and others too many to mention.

It has been much better though since I moved here to Pinewood. I am happy, and the hurt does go away too.

If I scroll down and 'Report this Group' using the button on the left, doesn't that mean that I'm reporting your group, not the vile group?

Sorry ladies. I messaged admin to see what was going on and she made it secret overnight so trolls couldn't get on. It's back now and open to all if you would still like to join.

Once you have joined there is a link in a box on the left of the page which links you to th vile group currently running.

You do NOT have to join this group, in fact please don't, just page down and report the group and if you feel like delving deeper you can report any individual comments and people themselves if you so wish.

Facebook have reponded very poorly but not getting rid of this group straight off and I will certainly be cancelling my facebook membership.

The other group that is linked has a photo of Jordans son Harvey, followed by some rather horrible comments about him. Wonder if it would be worth bringing it to her attention. Might get the group closed quicked

If Katie Price gets wind of that group which pictures her son I pity the sad feckers who set the group up.

Have joined too and am horrified at all of the bastards who have joined - some of which seem to have children of their own. Words fail me

The people posting this filth should be sued under the Disability Discrimination Act. They are today's nazis - have reported it too and yes the best person to get the harvey one sorted is Katie Price in liaison with the national press. The last publication to run a so-called joke about Harvey was "HEAT" magazine, which (despite its belated apology) has never quite recovered its reputation.

Plus which, Facebook itself could get sued - did anyone spot the news story recently about the directors of Google getting fined/sued for allowing an anti-Downs piece to run on their site? Sites like Facebook are running a dangerous game if they do not IMMEDIATELY REMOVE defamatory material. It's their responsiblity ultimately. Any lawyers out there fancy making a test case out of this one??

Finally, after far too long the group has been removed.

However it is number 8 that has been removed recently so there will probably be others until Facebook pull their fingers out and deal with this properly.

But another battle won, hope the war doesn't last too long and we win that one too and soon.
