Following on from my "bitch at bbq" thread, I know a few people who have thought me snotty apparently because I speak nicely. So being as though none of you know how I sound, do I come across as snotty online?

Sorry to hijack - what is an AT HOME card?

I don't think you're snooty Jampots. Never been snooty to me anyway.

GetOrlaithOut · 18/07/2005 11:14

I don't think you are at all! You're very down to earth.

People think I'm snobby...and I am....and I don't care

BibiTwo · 18/07/2005 11:19

Snooty sometimes gets confused with quiet or shy. I was really painfully shy in school and I often heard myself being described as "a bit stuck up".

Are you shy Jampots?

hunkermunker · 18/07/2005 11:19

I knew this would be your thread, JP - I always think of you as snotty.

NOT! Madness - you're not snotty at all

nutcracker · 18/07/2005 11:19

I am often accused of being snotty because I am quiet.

GetOrlaithOut · 18/07/2005 11:19

Splutter!!!!

Nah, she's not shy!

anorak · 18/07/2005 11:29

Certainly don't find you snotty, jampots! I'm equally annoyed by people thinking me stupid because I speak with a London accent.

handlemecarefully · 18/07/2005 11:32

No, you don't come across as snotty on line.

I was recently horrified to discover that husband and wife friends of my dh refer to me as "jolly hockey sticks xxxxx (insert name).

Dh was laughing about it and said that it was meant 'fondly'. How can that be fondly ?!?

handlemecarefully · 18/07/2005 11:35

link to bitch at BBQ thread please?

GetOrlaithOut · 18/07/2005 11:36

hmc - that certainly conjours up an image which does not match that I have of you!

GetOrlaithOut · 18/07/2005 11:36

It's Gobbledigook btw!

snafu · 18/07/2005 11:37

lol hmc - are you terribly hearty and enthusiastic?

You've never come across as snotty (or snooty, or snitty or sniffy), jampots. Are you shy though? I can be and always remember someone at school describing me as 'surrounded a glass wall' - you could see me and talk to me but couldn't get close - I don't think I'm like that at all!

snafu · 18/07/2005 11:38

'surrounded by a glass wall' [rolls eyes at self]

handlemecarefully · 18/07/2005 11:40

Snafu, Gdg...just to clarify, that description of me is of course grossly inaccurate!

handlemecarefully · 18/07/2005 11:41

Agree with others that shyness or being quietly reserved, can be misconstrued as being a bit snooty or aloof

anorak · 18/07/2005 11:42

Is it jolly unfair, hmc?

handlemecarefully · 18/07/2005 11:44

frightfully anorak!

Just found the bitch at BBQ thread - what a wierdy Jampots! (t'other woman not you)

Eugenious · 18/07/2005 12:04

Gadzooks!!!

NomDePlume · 18/07/2005 12:30

I've spoken to you in RL, jampots, and I don't think you sound snotty in RL or online...

GeorginaA · 18/07/2005 12:32

Can I join in the "we love jampots" thread, please?

Another vote for "not snotty" here!

lemonice · 18/07/2005 12:39

I've met you haven't I or was I dreaming, when I was at school I had this but was mainly moving from berkshire to lancashire and learning the word spiffing from a bookand being shy that did me in...

jampots · 18/07/2005 13:25

WELL THANK YOU ladies! It is confirmed now that I am not SNOOTY or SNOTTY.

Ailsa · 18/07/2005 13:52

You're definately NOT snooty or snotty. I've been accused of the same, mainly because during the 15 years that I've lived in Worcester I have lost my geordie accent

I'm sure if I moved back up north, it would come back again, it only comes out now if I've had 'quite' a few to drink.

lemonice · 18/07/2005 13:56

Hi Jampots i thought you did did you buy a bedroom doorbell? I haven't been avoiding you

Eugenious · 18/07/2005 14:15
