We used to have some great toddler spoons for the eldest DC which were really ergonomic but that was years ago.

I need spoons for DD who is 7 mnths that she ccould use to self feed.

Are there recommended ones that I haven't heard about possibly?

I used teaspoons with a round handle for DD and she was fine

I used some cheapo plastic spoons from ikea with dd, nothing fancy about them in the slightest!

You may be overthinking it, yes

You are overthinking

DD also 7 months uses any old weaning spoon or teaspoon.

Lulumaam · 23/02/2010 20:08

why cant she use her hands

self feeding with cutlery...often does not happen until much later,

really, don't worry

7 months???!! I think you'll be lucky

hobbgoblin · 23/02/2010 20:30

she eats solid stuff with her hands but i am spooning runny food for her which i don't want to do too much so i just figured she'd enjoy holding a spoon while i help with any sloppy items and that would lead to self spoon feeding

My kids could eat anything with their fingers - weetabix, spaghetti bolognaise, yoghurt, thick lentil soup .....

Spoons are for softies!

debka · 23/02/2010 20:34

If she's just holding the spoon, why does it have to be special...?...

hobbgoblin · 23/02/2010 20:34

dd probably could but i clean up enoiugh as it is and sadly cannot face it. if she were baby no. 1 or even 2 i might but on my own with 4...eeek no!

We used any old teaspoon with soft weaning spoons for yoghurt (they fit better in the little fromage frais pots!)

Anything really runny went in a doidy cup - great for soup.

SuSylvester · 23/02/2010 20:37

i thought it was allfinger food

hobbgoblin · 23/02/2010 20:40

just ordered my doidy

it is all food full stop except honey and too much salt, whether that be hand sized pieces or soup as suS says
