Tax credit claim, how long till they pay out?

I sent off my claim form on Thursday, am broke since partner left two weeks ago. How long will it take for me to get the money, pretty desperate now!

Don't expect it to be quick. Far easier to call them on monday and do it over the phone. Are you claiming everything you're entitled to?

I found money in my account before I had my award letter. Think it was about a week after I sent the form in.

Is worth keeping tabs on your bank account too

It took two or three weeks I think.

When I had a fresh claim, took about 3 or 4 weeks. Like someone said keep trying your bank account, the money will go in far ahead of any letters, plus it will be backdated.
