Here's a conversation we had the other day before I went to a job interview.

Me: "Do we have an iron?"

DP: "I dunno. I think there might be one in the hall cupboard?"

Me: "Yay. Found it!"

DP: "Does that thing work?"

Me: "No idea!"

What snippets of conversation from your house make you smile?

DH "Where's the hammer?"

Me: "Holding the bedroom window closed"

DH: "Doh!"

Where else would you keep a hammer. At least we always knew where it was.

Sounds just like our house. And like you say, no danger of it getting lost! Perfectly reasonable
