Sorry v cheesy - but making my sis a trip down memory lane compilation for her new b'day mini ipod and she really liked this in her youth.

While I'm at it anyone know what to do if Itunes doesn't have something (so far no Ian dury, no hot house flowers) Can you download from elsewhere on internet (where) and then put on an ipod (how?)

Sorry very technically inept and crap....

I am singing it but can't recall who sang it. It isn't cheesy. I love it!

Magscat · 30/06/2005 20:51

I just googled the exact phrase out of curiosity and it got no results! Never heard of it.

LilMissy · 30/06/2005 21:05

what are some of the lyrics and i'll have a look and see if i can find the lyrics which should lead us to the singer which should lead to a cd..

I can half remember it, it is cheesy but I love it too!

Re your downloads, you want Napster (or similar) but you have to subscribe - £14.99 a month plus 79p per download. My kids download and burn onto CD...hang on, I'll get the URL.

WigWamBam · 30/06/2005 21:10

It was originally a Hawaiian song, and it was by Scott Fitzgerald and Yvonne Keeley.

Janh · 30/06/2005 21:11

Napster - 7-day free trial (but still have to pay the 79p per track!)

Janh · 30/06/2005 21:14

Oh! Napster doesn't have Ian Dury either! WTF?

Has Hothouse Flowers though!

Lonelymum · 30/06/2005 21:15

I've just googled it and Westlife sang it apparently but I can't find the lyrics or who sang it origianlly.

If I Had Words

If I had words to make a day for you,

I'd sing a morning golden & true

I would make this day last for all time

then fill the night deep with moonshine

If I could make a day for you

I'd give you a morning golden & true

I would make this day last for all time..

then fill the night deep with moonshine

???????

WigWamBam · 30/06/2005 21:17

AHEM!! Am I not shouting loudly enough?

Scott Fitzgerald and Yvonne Keeley ...

Lonelymum · 30/06/2005 21:18

Oh sorry WWB, I missed your post.

Janh · 30/06/2005 21:19

It's If I had Words, although google still won't find it; Yvonne Keeley gets it, well done WWB!

Caligula · 30/06/2005 21:19

If I had words to make a day for you
I'd sing you a morning, golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night... deep in moonshine

I thank you.

(Can't find any links though, and can't remember who did it)

Caligula · 30/06/2005 21:20

Sorry posts crossed - have you tried kazaa?

oatcake · 30/06/2005 21:20

www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000FCDI/sitescraper-20/104-9179214-1359105

you can get a sample bit of it when the mice are singing it here... (dunno how to do the clever stuff...)

AND it wasn't yvonne keeley singing this snippet! I was the mice!

Lonelymum · 30/06/2005 21:21

Ooh girls! Look at this for a trip down memory lane!

oatcake · 30/06/2005 21:22

I know the words to all those songs...

feeling old, I'm definitely off to bed now...

Lonelymum · 30/06/2005 21:23

Bl**dy brilliant chart don't you think? You really don't get that sort of quality these days!

Caligula · 30/06/2005 21:24

What a great link lonelymum. And so many of those songs are classics now!

Cll · 30/06/2005 21:25

Blimey that was quick

Bet itunes haven't got them either

Will give napster a try - but what have they all got against poor old Ian Dury and the blockheads - he was a superstar!!

Wow - flashback.

That song reminds me of when I was a little girl and in hospital for a month - I remember hearing that on the radio in the kitchen on the children's ward. Made me a bit tearful thinking about it! Remember it like it was yesterday and it was 28 years ago that I was in hospital!

PollyLogos · 30/06/2005 22:22

Lonely mum that is a fabulous site Thank you so much.

crazyandconfused · 30/06/2005 22:24

I have always known it as a Hymn my friend got married to it!
