Nephew and his partner have just had a DS at 26 weeks. Taking everything day by day.

I'm buying the baby a little cuddly but also want to buy his mum something. I've never met her but am thinking of something that will help her in hospital - handcream, lip balm, tissues, mints, water spritzer thing but have run out of ideas. Can you help?

Also, what do I write in the new baby card?
Thanks in advance.

If it was me buying for the mum i would be tempted to get a photo of the baby and a keyring so she can have the pic with her at all times.

I'd send a normal, lovely card saying congratulations on the arrival of beautiful baby . Then I'd put a little seperate card in with it saying you are there if they need lifts, anything dropping off, cats feeding - whatever.

Should the baby sadly not make it, then they will cherish the baby card, acknowledgement he was here. When he does get better and come home, as I hope and hope he will, the family will have the regular lovely keepsakes we all love to look at over the years.
I think families in these situations sometimes miss out on all that.

I think your idea for a hamper of supplies is lovely. Maybe put all the bits in a really nice little holdall she can use for the all nighters they will need to pull. Emergency pj's [just some cheapies], Pack of moist wipes for freshning up, little face care pack, nice snacks that keep and don't go yak in the heat, emergency bag of £5 worth of loose change [total Godsend for coke machines and so on, and something you can't be dealing with at times like this].

Keyring that takes a pic is a lovely idea, maybe a little photo album too. Boots have a little one that hangs on a key ring.

I'm sorry you have thi shard time to get through. All the best for the weeks to come.
