How do you get rid of an unwanted car?

My mother wants to get rid of her car - it's a P reg Citroen, I think - just a small one, and in OK condition I think.

She has just had a stroke, so is not really in a position to get rid of it herself - any ideas what we could do?

She lives over 200 miles from us and the MOT is due on the 5th Jan, so just about impossible for us to sell it for her, and she is not in a fit state to do it herself.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

You will still need to fill in the V5 form to let the DVLA know what has happened to the car whatever you do with it or your mum could get fined.

I had a friend once who's car was getting a bit aged. So she took it up on the White Cliffs of Dover, and pushed it over the edge. Then claimed on the insurance.

I'm not condoning such things, but it made me laugh at the time.....

Well, it's gone and I'm so relieved! V5 done and insurance cancelled. Ta Da

We sold it to a dealer for just under £200 - hopefully someone with strong arms (no wonder my mum wasn't driving it much!) will get a cheapish runaround out of it, it only had 23,000 miles on the clock, but no power steering!
