Final Proof that my MIL hates me....

She has bought me for my 30th birthday... a huge Nativity Scene. (And I do mean huge.And slightly unnerving.The Mary figure is about a foot high and is wearing an extremely worried expression).

Im not sure you would buy a huge nativity scence for even the most committed christians' birthday.However given that it it common knowledge in family circles that I am an atheist I find this even more perplexing.

Do you think she actually dislikes me, or could she be making a last ditch attempt at converting me to catholicism?

HA ha ha. Why don't you donate it to the local hospital/school/hospice/nursing home and if MIL asks where it is say that you wanted to spread some joy somewhere that more people can enjoy it - as you don't have much room and in any case are not religious so thought that people who are could appreciate it more. And that the warm glow you get from sharing the love is more than enough as a gift for you....

The cat wasnt having it.He took one look into the manger and ran cowering into the bushes.I think the baby Jesus reminded him of DD1 as a newborn and he was not fond of her when she arrived as she was very colicky and there was an unfortunate incident when she was sick and some caught his tail.He's never really forgiven her and now dislikes babies in general...

DH thinks its an attempt at conversion but this may just be in an attempt to keep the peace

It was me who said i wanted one. I can't find any nice ones, they are all very modern and cartoony. I got a tiny wee one but Jesus is the size of a Polly Pocket. No where near Lincoln though, but there is a big cathedral in the city, will check if they have a shop. thank you. I really don't think it means she hates you.

Mil defo gets the prize for the most random and mental birthday present ever. I like the idea of lights/nativity/participating felines all going on your front lawn. You could even put out a charity box for donations. Might as well roll with the whole bonkers aspect...
