Or a prefect or a rebel?

My Dh refused to be a prefect on the basis that there was nothing in it for him!

I did the same as your DH. I refused to be a prefect. A teacher told me afterwards that I was the first pupil ever to have refused! I feel quite proud about that.

SamboM · 04/06/2003 12:06

Blimey, girly swots or what! I think if a plane had crashed into the school killing everyone but me I still wouldn't have been made a prefect. Actually I can't even remember if we had prefects, spose we must have done.

We used to have these stupid posture belt things, dangly yellow things that hung from your pursebelt, the people who looked like they went to the hairdressers/manicurists before coming to school always got them. You had to score 10/10 on a variety of things, eg appearance, posture, can't remember the rest, but I was the first person in my year to get a big fat ZERO which made me something of a hero! Or should that be heroine?

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I was a prefect, but that was automatic when you reached L6th. I think it is safe to say that I achieved no honours of responsibility at school whatsoever...

elliott · 04/06/2003 12:13

we had neither prefects nor head girls/boys...like uniforms, I don't think such things were in vogue at comprehensives in the early 1980s, perhaps the pendulum has swung back now?

wiltshirelass · 04/06/2003 12:14

but I did look lovely in very hairy bottle green tweed. and had the best legs in my year.

these things are important

SamboM · 04/06/2003 12:16

Our uniform was brown. Spew. I'm sure I looked very sexy nevertheless (not)

wiltshirelass · 04/06/2003 12:49

my dh was headboy at prep school, a fact of which he is still inordinantly proud, 30 years later... I've never understood that!

Bobsmum · 04/06/2003 12:59

I was a prefect then a house captain (four house captains plus two school captains).
Basically I could dish out detentions and go to meetings with the headmaster about whether the 6th form common roon was allowed a drinks machine or not. woopydeewoo - world domination here we come. I also got extra braid on my school blazer and a different tie - I'm welling up with pride as I type....no really I am.

codswallop · 04/06/2003 13:05

i was elected by my peers - maybe a joke?!1

We didn't have refects or head girls either at our school Don't think I'd have managed it but Dh probably would have. He used to go home to do his homework after school while the rest of us found other stuff to do.

M2T · 04/06/2003 13:52
