PMSL!

Nothing - he has a lolly, pair of socks and a card

marthamoo · 18/06/2005 22:45

Well that's more than me already. Must get the kids to make cards in the morning before he gets home.

As Mother's day comes first in the year, dp sets the benchmark - so that'll be sweet FA then. Just a card!

Jayzmummy · 18/06/2005 22:45

Three black and white pohotographs of DS1, Ds2 and my eyes placed in a rather funky rafia frame that I made and got him a copy of the latest SKA compilation CD.
Off to the beach for a family day....although DH and I arent "talking" so it will be a bit frosty I feel!!!!!

jackeroo · 18/06/2005 22:46

sent him off to MIL's with DS... i am sitting back with glass of vino and windows open feeling like it's holiday time and looking forward to lie in tomorrow... will make special dinner tomorrow night when they return (!)

marthamoo · 18/06/2005 22:46

Ain't that the truth, toothyboy. Dh's words on Mother's Day? "Well, you're not my mother!"

Do you know you can get happy fathers day from the cat or dog cards as well as "for my husband on fathers day"

What about from the washing machine or "your like a stranger to me" cards .

marthamoo · 18/06/2005 22:52

There are cards for every eventuality these days, aren't there, Skribble? Sympathy on the Death of Your Goldfish, So Glad to Hear Your Divorce Came Through etc. Bizarre.

i will admit to also buying my dad a pair of "i love my grandad" socks from jessica - would have bought them if i had seen them earlier anyway, but will let my dad have those!

marthamoo · 19/06/2005 08:04

Well we still haven't made cards and he'll be home in an hour. I've been on MN instead and the boys are watching TV. Suppose I'd better get the art stuff out...

When I turned the comp on this morning my screen opens into Google and I wondered what day it was as there's one of their little "special" googles. I had to hold the curser over the word to find out However, I did buy dh a card a few weeks ago when i was feeling organised but dont think he has a pressie - he's at work 'til 12 so will pop into town for quickie!

jessicasmummy · 19/06/2005 09:29

Well got jess to hand DH the very fetching tescos carrier bag with his socks and lolly and card in it - he seemed pleased but i keep appologising for it not being much - to which he responded - well what did i get you?! (Flowers and 2 boxes of chocs!) I told him, and he said, ah well, its not a lot compared to what i would have got you if we had the money! Bless him... he also got up with dd this morning and left me in bed!!!

jambo1707 · 19/06/2005 09:47

we got dh same of his favourite choccies for fathers day but as he's at work all day we were going to give them to him tonight........

yeah right, that was before ds1 (age 3) sneaked into the kitchen ripped them open and ate them.....

oh well, i suppose its the thought that counts.....

toothyboy · 19/06/2005 11:08

Have just realised that I have forgotten to write out the card from ds and give it to dp!! No wonder he's been a bit funny this morning!!

fairyfly · 19/06/2005 11:10

I'm going to celebrate it for myself, drink beer, no housework, fart, watch porn, not wash any uniform for tomorrow and put my kids to bed without washing them. May even eat pie and chips, not that i stereotype men of course.

I'm 23, my older sis is 27 and my younger sis is 19. We clubbed together to get dad: a selection of coffee's from around the world, two bags of 500g coffee beans, a "you're a star" mug, a set of expresso cups and a shirt. Luckily for us, dad's easy to buy for, we just head to Whittards!

When we were younger, it was socks and chocolate all the way!

I'm nearly 24 weeks pregnant and have brought my DH a fathers day card from the bubs. Not sure yet if he'll think it's sweet or naff... but I am all soppy like that so he should be used to it by now!

As for "cards for everything" the most amazing card I saw was "congratulations on your divorce" which had a very amusing joke about lawyers and light bulbs...

coppertop · 19/06/2005 12:01

Dh was given the same as I got for Mothers Day - nowt! Although actually he did get a lie-in, which is more than I did..... Grrrr!
