Gunman spotted by the kids school and school said nothing

On Monday my kids came running out of school telling me they had all seen a man with a gun at playtime.

I asumed it was an overactive imagination and just reassured them it was probably just a shadow etc, but it turns out that it;s true.

Next to the school there is a row of houses that are derelict. They were all brought by a developer ages ago and now he can't get planning permission so they are empty.

Apparently at lunchtime the kids noticed this man in the window of one of the houses and he had a gun and was pointing it at birds.
Then he apprently started pointing it at a boy in dd1's class. The kids told a dinner lady who said they were bein g silly and to go and play.

The class teacher realised they were telling the truth however when they all got upset.

The school have called in the police but they only informed the parents of the boy who had the gun pointed at him and have let playtime continue as normal.

The school can't just do nothing. Several of the parents will need to get together to force the school to take it seriously.

Nutty, I think you need to speak to the school about this.

The Head needs to reassure parents/make a statement, otherwise a "rumour machine" will gather pace.

Parents need to know that this is being dealt with appropriately.

A few parents have already confronted the school and one of the mums had a call from the head mistress yesterday.

They said they didn't want to panic everyone by telling them something until they were sure of the facts and that the police were now involved and if there were any further developments the parents would be informed.

Not saying anything is understandable I suppose, although they could have sent a quick 'incident under investigation' note to parents as the kids were bound to talk.

But that the playtime was allowed to continue!

I know, quite a few of the kids were very frightened.

I asked dd1 and 2 about it and dd1 said she didn't actually see the person but dd2 did so I will be asking her again later.
