C*** customer service at Argos and generally bad day!

Just wanted to let off steam really. We have been waiting for delivery of a changing unit thingy from Argos for over 2 weeks with no communication from them in between to tell us when it will arrive. I have just phoned them to find out as don't want to be out etc only to be told that they cannot tell me as i am not the one who placed the order (dh did). They won't even tell me if it is in stock yet! Apparently it is to do with the data protection act but seems bl**dy stupid to me, i am really tempted to ask a male friend to phone and pretend to be dh to see how great their data protection is then!

OOh i feel a little better for that!

The thing that annoyed me teh most is i got really upset on the phone (38 weeks today!) and i didn't want this grotty jobsworth thinking he had upset me. Can't decide whether to cut nose off and cancel order or what - if i cancel (well of course i can't) but if dh cancels then they will have had three weeks of our money which seems wrong.

Also been to the dentist today and got really p**d off there as well as he knocked a filling out and then said he couldn't put a temporary one in, and the main filling i had gone for was painful and because i got stressed teh baby seemed to (yes probably my imagination but it doesn't take much!)

have sat and sobbed and then decided to post on mumsnet!

anyone else thin Argos is c*?

Yes I do. I boycotted them for several years after my wedding due to various cockups with wedding presents etc but have started going back a bit. DH will still not go. Think I will stop now that they have done away with customer services and you have to stand in the queue for the till with your faulty item and then get everyone behind seething at you because the assistant wanders off for ages. Because the number of things I've had to take back is incredible.

So dealing with them is the last thing I would have wanted at 28 weeks. Poor you. Sounds like you and baby need to have a nice relax.

Yes - Argos is useless - particularly the delivery. .. But we still use them, because they're cheap!

We had a ridiculous farce about delivery dates of a new cooker when we moved house. Eventually agreed to the date we were moving in. Of course they arrived when the van was still here, blocking the drive. The delivery guys offered to help lift it over a tiny (8 inch) wall, but Argos man refused and abandoned it on the pavement.

Similarly with the dishwasher - it wouldn't fit through the door in its packaging, so they just left it on the doorstep!

also every time I phone up they get stroppy because I can't remember my customer number ...!?
