Thought I'd better put the director's name in, just in case the thread title caused some concern...
I was watching this, completely gripped, on Saturday night when ds went walkabout just before the end, so I missed the last stand at the farm-house.
Did anyone watch this film and can they hopefully tell me that Holt, Jake and Sue Lee escaped from whatever the Jonathan Rhys Meyers baddie (Pitt? Pratt?) was called? I had to go upstairs at the precise moment of Sue Lee and Jake's shotgun wedding...

Yes, they were OK in the end (phew!). They left for California. Encountered the baddie in a wood, kept him talking and then grabbed a gun to chase him off. He was planning to walk into his home town, even though it was full of Federal soldiers. He was even more crazed and brutalised than before.

I thought it was an excellent film, especially the way it resisted so many obvious cliches about how people behave in wartime. Perhaps Ang Lee's position as a non-Westerner made this easier to pull off.

Phew, thanks OldieMum, I was beginning to think everyone else was watching Eurovision. I had a strong suspicion it was going to end badly, so it's good to hear they got away in the end.
