Conditions :-

You are a short lady, size 14/16
You are nearly 50 years old

You have a dh of a similar age, who isn't fashion conscious

You have a ds aged 10.

It doesn't necessarily have to be clothes

Does is have to be Next? I've never found much there I like.

SausageRocket · 29/07/2009 16:04

have you won some vouchers or something ?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/07/2009 16:04

bedding.
a new Dyson

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/07/2009 16:05

They've got some nice plates as well.

whomovedmychocolate · 29/07/2009 16:05

10 £50 gift cards. That's christmas sorted then

stubbyfingers · 29/07/2009 16:08

I would get:

New plates and wine glasses
maybe some cushions

some shirts, undies and socks for DH

whatever ds would accept (am assuming he may be fussy about what is cool!) - socks, undies, jeans, winter coat?

I would maybe get myself a winter coat/boots or some PJs

SO have you got £500 to spend at Next or are you planning a ram raid?

stubbyfingers · 29/07/2009 16:08

Oh yes, bedding.

clumsymum · 29/07/2009 16:17

Yes, after years of saying "oh, nobody ever wins those things, it's a con", I've won !!

So it does have to be Next.

get something from their furniture range, their clothes are naff... this?

HollyBunda · 29/07/2009 16:27

I'd look at bedding & home stuff.

My SIL is the promotions manager for 5 womens mags. She is always saying that peoples chances of winning are good because she gets so few entries.
So enter those competitions!

LouMacca · 29/07/2009 16:37

Congrats clumsymum!

I too would go for the bedding and stuff for the kitchen. They have some nice cushions, throws, lamps and light fittings too.

I wouldn't buy clothes from Next as you see so many people walking around in the same top/jacket/dress

janeite · 29/07/2009 16:44

I would buy a new bookcase, or an armchair, or some bed linen etc. The clothes are horrible.

lynniep · 29/07/2009 16:51

you could always sell the vouchers on ebay you'd lose a bit to ebay but bids on vouchers usually get pretty close to the actual amount. just a thought in case you cant find anything you want...

I would also go for home stuff though if I had them

docket · 29/07/2009 16:51

Congratulations!

I wouldn't buy clothes either, although perhaps things like pyjamas/knickers/socks etc if needed. Otherwise, as others have said I'd look at furniture and bedding.

clumsymum · 31/07/2009 10:49

We need a new matress, and I was amazed to find that Next sell those too, anyone ever bought one from there, are they any good?

That would take up the bulk of it I think, it's a purchase we have been putting off for ages.

I will deffo get ds's school clothes from there for the new school year, and put the money I would have spent on them into our 'big holiday' savings fund.
