new baby, what can you claim?

Me again! This one is for my brother. He and his wife had a beautiful baby girl on March 26th. Karen has two children from her first marriage that lives with them, plus Ellie the new baby. I expect she is claiming child tax credit for the two older girls, is she entitled to anything for Ellie? I thought there was something about money for a new born?

she will be able to claim tax credits for baby and if she is getting tax credits already she can claim a baby grant which is now £300 (i think) Emmmm....... she will be able to get the child fund trust payment too but i am unsure how you go about that.... I think with the tax credits you get an extra £500 in the first year of a babys life.
