Have decided to start a useful tips thread as someone gave me a useful one yesterday. Perhaps you have some to share.

Leather sofas - most marks come off with a damp cloth or a wet wipe. Apparently, (so I have been told but not tried it myself yet), if you have biro on your leather sofa use a squirt of hairspray and wipe off. Should remove it.

*For the vinegar one, use 1 part white vinegar to 5 parts water....That way the house shouldn't smell.

*Vinegar is also good for removing carpet stains and also you can soak cotton wool balls in vinegar and leave them in a bowl in a room. it soaks up bad odours so good if you have pets.

  • use coke to polish chrome, or half a lemon rubbed in salt, rub it on your chrome and wipe it off.

*To give the bath a good old clean, fill up and add 1 cup of washing powder, leave for 1 hour then empty and should be shining.

BEST TIP is denture tablets. put 2 down your toilet and leave them overnight. Kills off any limescale. Also good for net curtains.

to clean the inside of your microwave (if like mine is filthy at times!)
put a bowl of water in (obviously not full to the brim) and "cook" until it boils - the steam loosens all the grime and it only takes a wipe over to get it all off.

Similar principle of your food (again, like mine) gets burned onto a pan - put boilling water from the kettle in, pop the lid on and in a few minutes, the steam will have loosened the worse of it,

Horseshoe - I used coke to clean my jewellery. Just soak for a few hours and then rinse and dry. It's amazing what it does and quite scary to think what it must do to your teeth and insides!

I have just remembered a real tip

to clean a diamond ring, get an old toothbrush and brush it with washing up liquid then just rinse it - it sure does make it sparkle
