Was forwarded this by a friend and forgive me if this has already been done, but i cant find a thread....

Seems easy to deregister but pretty shocked this is something we have to opt out of.

The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week.
All mobile phone numbers including those belonging to children will be open to cold calling.

To remove your number go here. here

I put in a request to find myself and it couldn't, so seems they don't have all numbers anyway

Its not as mobile phone directory, its a telephone directory which includes mobile numbers, although it does say they never give out mobile numbers which is a bit

however, whenever you get a mobile phone your number is kept on a directory for the provider (eg vodaphone, O2) and you have to request not to be on it. I think it's call the white pages or something like that (although i may be completely wrong!)

Just thought I'd let you know we had an e-mail at work about this (work for local council). We then got a second e-mail warning us not to click on the links because it turned out it was a scam. I don't know anymore than this but thought I would urge caution.

I found this recently which may be of some use.

Didn't they try and launch something like this a couple of years ago?

Basically if your mobile number had ever been on a website or in the public domain, or if you had given it as contact details when registering for a site or purchase etc, then the directory said they would make it available on their directory.

All shades of hell kicked off and the directory were deluged by people applying to unsubscribe. The website went poof! And Moët more was heard of it.

This sounds like a varied resurrection of this and it's not good.

I loathe sales calls and texts to my mobile and will definitely unsubscribe. They shouldn't be ably to hold my number anyway, as I never gave it to them.

The link is broken now, so not sure who to complain to.
