A massive beetle, very pretty but what the hell do I do with it?

Tempted to put it into the garden but would this be reckless? it is not native to England (well I don't think it is)

Yuck!

err, I would kill it. Or report it to the RSPCA> Don't release it into the wild.

belgo · 28/05/2009 18:41

phone local zoo.

belgo · 28/05/2009 18:41

what does it look like?

pollypentapeptide · 28/05/2009 18:42

perhaps I should put in to a shoe box with my knickers (which is where I found it tucked up) - obviously likes them

Should I hang on to it and ring the zoo in the morning

I am trying to find a picture of it!

where have you been? I would agree kill it, or if not ethical to you call rspca for advice. Or keep it as a pet

FabulousBakerGirl · 28/05/2009 18:43

Phone the RSPCA once you have identified it.

mascaraohara · 28/05/2009 18:43

eeewwww. you are braver than me I would freak!!

pollypentapeptide · 28/05/2009 18:43

The wings look almost as if they have a metallic appearance but with rainbow colours on them. Pretty, but not one I have seen here.

I would put it somewhere it can't escape, like a secure shoebox. What country have you come from anywhere nice? {nosey}

There must be a website to fnd out what beetle it is surely?

pollypentapeptide · 28/05/2009 18:48

We stayed in Crete, saw lots of critter, glad we didn't bring back a gecko

Ok, in shoe box with leaves and grass cuttings. Will have a think in the morning and decide what to do (secretley hoping that it will die overnight)

Have unpacked rest of suitcase rather cautiously

OP posts:
belgo · 29/05/2009 07:40

Have you looked in the box yet?

BonsoirAnna · 29/05/2009 07:45

Drown it or burn it.
