No, I don't think that you are thick. I have never said anything rude about you. I don't have a bee in my bonnet, but I am a science teacher and spend a large portion of my working time unpicking misunderstandings that kids have over science. Things are often misrepresented in the press, sometimes in the best of scientific journals. It doesn't help children if they are given misleading information.

Scientific debate is an excellent thing. There is nothing 'wrong' with people putting new ideas out, in fact it is how science progresses. I was just pointing out that if Einstien had realy been overturned there would have been more evidence than a New Scientist artcle 3 years ago.

While the infomation is interesting it is important to place it into context. Sorry if that upsets you, but I think that comtext is importany in education.

The fastest thing in the world is...milk. Because it is past-your-eyes before you see it....

Boom, boom.

happymerryberries · 08/05/2005 15:52

Groan!

Since I've already been accused of having a bee in my bonnet , I'll be pedantic . Fighter air craft can go faster than sound, as they can break the sound barrier. The only things that can go faster than light are the space ships in Star Trek

happymerryberries · 08/05/2005 16:22

Oh and bullents go faster than sound, which is whey they go 'crack' when they pass you, a mini sonic boom

sansouci · 08/05/2005 16:41

SuuuuuperrrrrMummyyyyyy!

happymerryberries · 08/05/2005 16:43

Thinking about it, the avarage mummy on spotting her dc about to spill ribena on the new carpet!

sansouci · 08/05/2005 16:51

Exactly!

sansouci · 08/05/2005 16:52

Jokes aside, I think it's light.

If he is interested in physics

Will give him lots of interesting kids physics, including the physics of skateboarding!

For some biology try

Thunder is the sound that the air makes when rushing back in to fill the vacuum created by the lightning

Nature abhors a vacuum

Ah, but can anyone tell me what the fastest non-motorised sport on earth is?

(I know..nernernernernah!)

happymerryberries · 08/05/2005 19:56

shooting? Since bullets travel faster than sound?

Wallace · 08/05/2005 19:57

Nice try, but I must clarify that I meant where the participant is moving fast

The luge (sp?) that thing when they shoot down the ice on a thing that looks like a cross between a seat and and huge IUD?

Wallace · 08/05/2005 21:33

Nope!

(feeling smug - I just hope I am right!)

LOL at "cross between a seat and and huge IUD"

Cam · 09/05/2005 19:18

Cam · 10/05/2005 14:41

FLUM · 10/05/2005 14:46

Cam · 10/05/2005 14:57
