People who acquire pet after pet, is it because they have some unfulfilled need in them to be loved and/or wanted/needed. Do they gther pets sub-consciously because they don't feel adequately love from else where

That's it really - open to the floor...

well my dd kept asking and I kept saying "no no no" then I thought "god, I would have LOVED a pony at her age, it would have been the defining event of my life, why am I being such a cow?" so there you go.

as my dd said to a friend of mine "mummy always wanted a pony to play with when she was little, and now she's got one" ahhhhhhh

can i havwe one as well please?

as i wasnt allowed ballet/horse riding/gym lessons as a child, i have decided my kids can if they want.

tho i cant quite stretch to allowing them to have their own pony.

i was never allowed anything as a child either. i would have loved to have ballet/piano lessons etc/ my mum did get me a puppy once but took it away after 2 weeks cos she couldnt be nothered with it So if i can afford it and manage it i would like my kids to have things i could never have.

I agree with T about wanting you kids to have what you weren't allowed to have.

We had a coupole of cats but my mom got bored of them and gave them away. We weren't allowed anything else.

I begged and begged for clarniet lessons and a clarinet but never got one, or dance lessons etc.

Dd1 already does ballet even though i struggle to afford it sometimes, and if she wanted to learn a musical instrument too then i would let her.

i was given the chance by the school of having clarinet lessons (the school only had 2 clarinets and they rarely became available), but my parents couldnt afford the lessons. i still want to learn, is it too late?

Actually I had a horse whn growing up, very defining. I'd def. get dd one. Hopefully without the 8 years of begging that I did first

my mum and her siblings had ponies when they were growing up -in fact my grandfather had a horse and cart.

they also had a donkey, a cow, some pigs and some chickens, not to mention various dogs and cats.

they did live in a village though and there was a war on.

2 horses (one geriatirc one baby one) and a cat here, was pony mad as a girl but family couldnt afford one. Unfortunately?? DS1 & 2 more interested in football but at least it means I can sneak off riding and get some peace and quiet sometime. Suspect I will probably turn into some mad old country woman when the kids have all grown up

I have a large dog.

Not too keen on cats (make me itch) or ponies (make me sneeze, rather bitey). Would quite like a rabbit tho.
