Anyone got armchairs in their living room?

Would you rather have a 2 seater sofa or 2 armchairs?
Am fancying something like these armchairs to show more of the floor. I think they're quite stylish in a retro old folks way but wondering if they're that comfy and if they drive real life families mad. Would have a 2m long sofa as well.

We have 2 armchairs in one of our rooms. I love them. They are very self-indulent - great for times when you want to sit on your own with a cup of tea and a magazine.

Love the fabric on the chair you linked to.

We've got two sofas that we bought for our first house. In this house they seem too cumbersome and block the walkway through to the next room. We're going to replace them when the baby/toddler years are over with a sofa and two chairs. My father, who thinks he is the authority on these things, thinks we are mad because he likes to sprawl relax on this, whereas we sit upright. I think it depends on how you like to sit. If you like lying on the sofa with a book, or prefer sitting upright in a chair, then you need to buy accordingly.

What exactly do you do when sitting upright though llareggub? Trying to work out whether I could become a sitter rather than a sprawler] I can see they'd be appealing to visitors because you get the good posture and it's less intimate than sharing a sofa.

I was indeed a sprawler until I developed back problems. I hardly ever flop on the sofa now, and I was a big sofa flopper previously. DH is the same, so now we have pristineish sofa cushions where no one ever sits because I sit one end of the large sofa and DH sits one end of the other. Creatures of habit, us!

When we have guests we tend to sit in our conservatory at the table because then the children can play in the garden while we pretend to supervise.

While I'm here, what are people's experiences of leather furniture with small children?

We have a 3 seater, 2 seater and an armchair. I love having an armchair, also like cuddling up on the sofas so really like having options!

We have leather and small children and it's fab. If I didn't have wee ones I'd possibly prefer fabric, but leather is perfect for this stage of life.

If you have the space then I'd always go for a mixture of sofa and armchairs.
We have a 3-seater sofa and a 'cuddler' chair - it's 1.5 seats so like a really wide chair but you can fit 2 people on if they don't mind being snug

2 chairs will take up more space than a 2-seater sofa but they are more versatile.

We have a three seater sofa, we also had a two seater but not enough room when we moved so we got rid of it.

I am on the lookout for an armchair, but it needs to be more squishy than the ones in your link.

I love the way you can curl up in an armchair with a book, or with children on the arms having a bedtime story.

Leather with children - great, you can wipe it down.

Love armchairs, otherwise everyone is lined up on the sofa, not ideal for a good old chat.
