My brother is going to be 22 next week and my mum will be 51 the week after. I am in a little bit of debt with no spare cash to pay it off and I can't afford to spend much on presents. Can anyone think of anything I can give that will show that I've put some thought and effort in and that I do care?

I could possible knit something but I don't have a lot of yarn or time so it would have to be small...

My friend was in this position for mothers day, when her mum was out she went round and gave her mum's house a complete spring clean and all the ironing too
Thinking of doing this for my mum, she would love it.

Not sure about brother... mine is happy to have a delayed prezzie when Im strapped for cash

Take your Mum out for coffee and cake somewhere really nice, homemade card and a homemade birthday cake or tin of biscuits and a lovely bunch of daffs.

Knit your brother a really jazzy beany or treat him to a night out at the cinema with pizza or hot dogs at home afterwards

Have them over for a cheap but tasty homecooked meal.

Use any photos that you have already to do them a photoboard of nice times spent together.

Make a nice cake/sweeties/biscuits.

Burn some CDs you think they would like.

Buy a couple of secondhand books that they would enjoy.
