Can anyone tell me how play group works? My ds is currently one and goes to nursery one day a week. I know that there are play groups for when he is a bit older. Are these for 2 or 3 year olds? How much are they and are they ever free? TIA

I work in a pre-school (same as a playschool) and we take children from 2.5. Like zebra said, we can't discriminate against children and have to take them if in nappies... (I changed 3 pooy ones in one session yesterday!) yuck....
most nurseries arround here (Berkshire) are run by the local council, therefor they seem to have more money thrown at them... we are run by a committee and have to fund raise for all our equipment. On a plus side for pre-schools they often have less children... therefore I feel we get to know the children better and can give them more time if they need it, like if they are really shy or teary.
